Dr Sue Southwood

Sue has been in educational development for over 25 years. Her background is in Mathematics Education with a strong focus on professional development. Sue is passionate about developing spaces for learning with and between other professionals in the field of higher education. 

Sue’s work is strongly influenced by appreciative inquiry, a positive approach to development which builds on strengths to achieve professional goals. She is currently exploring and drawing on ideas around spatiality and the notion of third space to frame her work. 

Sue focuses on the orientation of academics new to the institution and both coordinates and facilitates CATALyst - Conversations About Teaching, Assessment and Learning (previously the Assessors’ Course). She also supervises post graduate research in higher education and supports other processes of professional development such as evaluation.
