The programme is targeted at all students from the first years across all faculties. Under the coordination of Ms Chipo Simbi, academic representatives from different residences, including Oppidans, went through mentorship training on the 19th of February 2022. The academic representatives then went on to facilitate the mentorship training in their respective residences.

400 mentors and 720 mentees registered for the Programme across all residences. At the end of term 1, mentors submitted their mentorship feedback to the programme coordinator. A report was compiled on the progress of the programme and was presented to both CHERTL and DSA. The report indicated that most mentors felt that the programme has assisted first years to adapt to the new university life and to Rhodes University. The mentees acknowledged that the programme contributed to their mental, academic, and emotional growth.

On the 23rd of April 2022, CHERTL presented the mentors with T-Shirts as an acknowledgement of the great work that they are doing for both the mentees and the University at large. Prof. Jo-Anne Vorster, HoD of CHERTL, thanked the Academic reps who manage and coordinate the programmes in the different residences. On behalf of the DSA Mr Eric Ofei reminded the academic representatives that the DSA acknowledges the good work the mentors are doing with their mentees.
