Education:
His research interests are on the systematics, taxonomy, biogeography and conservation of freshwater fishes in Southern Africa. He has ongoing research projects in several SADC countries including South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Angola. He is actively involved in the supervision of postgraduate students (Honours to PhD) level and has ongoing collaborations with researchers from several local and international institutions including the Royal Museum for Central Africa (Tervuren, Belgium), Zoologische Staatssammlung München (Munich, Germany), University of Zimbabwe and Chinhoyi University of Technology (Zimbabwe). He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific publications and several IUCN Red List assessments.
Albert’s hobbies are hiking, fishing, reading and writing and engaging in stimulating discussions – politics, science, environmental issues and life in general!
