Applied Spatial Technologies in Geography

The aim of this course is to provide students with the theoretical background and related practical competencies in Geospatial thinking utilising Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing. The course comprises five lectures/tutorials/practical preparation sessions and a three-hour practical per week, while a compulsory field weekend may be a component of the course.

Prerequisites:

GOG201 50 %, GOG202 50 %.

DP Requirements:

Over 80 % lecture attendance; attendance and completion of ALL tutorials, assignments and practicals.

Aggregation:

GOG301 and GOG302 can be aggregated for GOG 3. This is at the discretion of the Head of Department.

Credits:

30 (i.e. a minimum of 300 notional hours)

Marks:

Coursework:  60 %

Exam:  40 %

Examination:

2 Papers, 2 hours each; the structure is communicated in the course.

Sub-Minimum:

40 % (45 % for aggregation).

Note:  There are NO supplementary exams for this course.
