Date Released: Thu, 10 May 2018 09:52 +0200

The Extended GIS Honours class went on a field trip to Cape Town investigate applications in South African GIS organizations. On the way, they stayed over in Mossel Bay - visiting the historical map exhibition at Diaz Museum and sleeping in an old train! They visited the SANBI headquarters, at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, Peace Parks Foundation in Stellenbosch and the Chief Directorate: National Geo-spatial Information. GIS professionals at these organizations provided practical insights into the industry. On the way back to Grahamstown, the class stayed over at Calitzdorp Spa - where they soaked in hot springs while reflecting on the week's activities.
