GIS Honours Class Maps the Vaalkrans Game Farm

As part of their course, the GIS Honours Class in the Department of Geography are developing a spatial database and Maps for the Vaalkrans Game Farm, which is near Riebeeck East.  Their assignment involves mapping infrastucture, drainage, roads, track, paths and vegetation.  The latter utilises classification of Remote Sensing data.  As with most good scientific work, it is necessary for the students to collect and verify their data in the field.  This they did on a hot, dry autumn day on 18 April 2018, which had strong bergwinds.  They sure seemed to have enjoyed their hard work and managed to stay out of the way of the inyati (i.e. buffalo).
