Hobson Hall Rules and Constitution

Hobson Hall Rules

The purpose of this booklet is to provide valuable information that will assist you in settling into the life of Hobson Hall and to set out the rules applicable to the Residences and Rhodes University. Please ensure that you read it thoroughly as students are expected to conform to the rules of Hobson Hall and Rhodes University.

These Hall Rules are supplementary to the Rules for Students published in the University Calendar in the section titled “Student Disciplinary Code” and other University Rules notified to students by the Registrar. There are rules in addition to those set out in the Student Disciplinary Code. A breach of any of these rules will be regarded as a disciplinary offence which may result in a disciplinary penalty being imposed. These rules are applicable to all Residences in the Hall.

Any breach of these Hall Rules, the Rules for Students, or any other University Rules constitutes an offence and is punishable in terms of the Student Disciplinary Code.

IGNORANCE OF THE RULES IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE EXCUSE.

Drunkenness is an aggravating factor, not a mitigating one.
