Sithembele Xhegwana

Sithembele has a Bachelor of Social Sciences (hons) degree in sociology from the University of Cape Town. His mini thesis focused on community participation and the Cape Town 2004 Olympic Bid. This was consequently cited in the International Journal for Urban and Regional Research.

He also has Master of Arts degree in Creative Writing from the same university. The full thesis towards this qualification was published by Lovedale Press in 2003. This was consequently put in the subscription list for Grade 11 in the Northern Cape.

His first publication, a novelette in English appeared in 1991 was cited as the first South African to be published at the age of 19. His third publication is a collaboration with his youngest daughter (collection of poems) which will soon be published through a grant from the Eastern Cape department of Sports, Recreation, Arts & Culture. His present research interests are around  traditional male circumcision in the Eastern Cape and pregnancy supportability.
