Professor Helena van Coller appointed to AdJASA

The second conference of AdJASA (Administrative Justice Association of South Africa) themed “Taking Stock of Administrative Justice” was held at the Salt Rock Hotel in KZN on 11 and 12 February 2016. Excellent papers were presented in very topical sessions varying from issues on administrative-law relief, the courts’ approaches to the judicial review of administrative action and procedural fairness and access to information.

The keynote speaker, Justice Zak Yacoob, spoke about ‘rationality, the rule of law and the separation of powers’. The conference was attended by academics, practitioners and civil servants and concluded with a panel discussion on current challenges in the pursuit of administrative justice and the road ahead.A general meeting of AdJASA took place and the following office-bearers were elected to the Executive. They will hold office until the next annual general meeting:

Treasurer:                   Radley Henrico

Steven Budlender, Alfred Hona,  Michael Kidd, Precious Ndlovu, Umesh Raga, Achmat Toefy and our very own Helena van Coller.

 

Part 5 of our Constitution allows for the establishment of special interest chapters of AdJASA by the Executive. Professor Helena van Coller currently chairs the special interest chapter for teachers of administrative law.
