Responsibilities of Management

An organisation’s health and safety programme can only achieve high standards with the active involvement of senior management.

RU has adopted a model and strategy whereby Senior Management is individually, collectively, and ultimately responsible for identifying risks and being accountable for managing the risks within their areas of responsibility - including safety, health and environmental.

Members of senior management are appointed by the Vice-Chancellor (as per OHS Act section 16) and are responsible for overseeing their areas of responsibility/accountability, and signing health and safety appointment forms. View the list of RU 16 2 Appointees

Managers and HODs are responsible for ensuring that day-to-day health and safety management practices are implemented (as per OHS Action section 8). Find out more: Management
