Sustainability Projects Funded by RU Green Fund

Rhodes University staff and students are eligible to apply for a Rhodes University Green Fund grant if they have a project that will enhance sustainable development activities at Rhodes University and in the wider community.

Since its inception, the RU Green Fund (RUGF) has been slowly growing, and has provided support to:

  • Electricity-saving: Monitoring of electricity consumption in residences with the aim of developing a strategy to reduce electricity use in all parts of the University.

  • Worm Farm Project: a student-run project that provides an environmentally sustainable alternative method of disposing of biodegradable waste.

  • More projects: RU staff and students are encouraged to apply for a RUGF Grant for projects that enhance sustainable development activities at university and community level
