The aim of this course is to help students develop appropriate mathematical tools necessary to represent and interpret information quantitatively. It also aims to develop certain skills and meaningful ways of thinking, reasoning and arguing with quantitative ideas in order to solve problems in any given context.
Basic mathematics of daily life, numbers, operations on algebraic expressions, linear and quadratic equations, linear and quadratic functions, polynomials, trigonometry, absolute value (modulus), exponents, exponential and logaritmic functions, sequences and series.
None prescribed. Complete course notes will be provided.
ONE tutorial per week.
FOUR class tests and TWO exams (a two-hour examination in June and a two-hour examination in November).
