This training session introduces JSTOR, a premier digital library that offers a rich archive of scholarly journals, books, and primary sources, with a particular strength in the humanities and social sciences.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in:
- Navigating the JSTOR platform – Understanding its interface, search tools, and browsing options.
- Searching strategically – Using keywords, filters, and advanced search features to find relevant academic content.
- Accessing scholarly materials – Downloading and saving journal articles, book chapters, and primary source documents.
- Exploring thematic collections – Leveraging JSTOR’s curated collections for deeper insights in literature, history, political science, art, sociology, and related fields.
- Utilising research tools – Setting up content alerts, citing sources directly from the platform, and linking to materials for coursework or research projects.
- Discovering open-access content – Accessing freely available journals and primary sources within JSTOR.
By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to make the most of JSTOR’s vast and authoritative resources, enhancing their ability to conduct in-depth, high-quality academic research in their chosen disciplines.
