Rhodes Welcomes 2019 Rhodents

The 2019 events calendar kicked off with a well-attended Orientation Cocktail function at Alumni House.

Johannesburg hosted the last Rhodes Alumni events for 2018.

Cape Town Events

The second instalment of our alumni events took place at the Kelvin Grove Club in Cape Town on the 11 October 2018. Deputy Vice – Chancellor for Research and Development, Dr Peter Clayton hosted three events.

Durban Luncheon and Reunion 2018

Reunion Season kicked off with Durban events being held on the 3rd August. The Chancellor, Judge Lex Mpati hosted a Luncheon at Riverside Hotel and took the opportunity to present the Distinguished Old Rhodian Award 2017, to the late Dr Les Shone's family.

Twenty-eight students receive bursaries from the Old Rhodian Union this year

Twenty-eight hard-working students received bursaries totalling R225 000 from the Old Rhodian Union this year.

Festival Cocktail Party 2018

A limited print edition of 'Rhodes University in Winter' by Roddy Fox, is available to buy for R2500. Half of the proceeds will go to Rhodes University and will be allocated to Grounds and Gardens maintenance. Print details: Size:450mm (wide) x 337.5mm (high). Printed on Hahnemühle German Etching Paper. This is a very high quality archival paper with an estimated life of at least 75 years. Limited Edition of 25 signed prints each with a certificate of authenticity.

Post Graduation Hall Celebration 2018

The Post Graduate Hall and the Alumni Office joined together to congratulate our Master’s and PhD Graduates. This event has become an annual occurrence to welcome our Post Graduates into the elite alumni family.

Orientation Cocktail Party 2018

Hosted by the Old Rhodian Union Vice-President, Prof James Gambiza, the Orientation Cocktail Party was a huge success with many young and old Rhodents coming together, to chat and share experiences. Deputy Vice-Chancellor; Research and Development, Dr Peter Clayton welcomed all of our first years and especially welcomed our Old Rhodians back to campus.

Durban Consultations

Durban Consultations took place on Friday 23rd June at the African Pride Audacia Manor Hotel. We had a Brunch and an evening Cocktail event and both were well attended with many responses and experiences shared. The consultations took a slightly varied approach in order to allow for more dialouge and the following points were discussed.
