After two years of hosting Scifest Africa virtually, South Africa's national science festival is returning to its live format in Makhanda from 7 - 13 September 2022.

Since 1996, Scifest Africa has been a doorway into the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Innovation (STEMI) for the people of South Africa. Since its inception, Scifest Africa has hosted hundreds of international speakers and workshop leaders, becoming the largest science event in Africa.

Scifest Africa 2022 is filled with a programme of lectures, exhibitions, workshops, science shows and more. We are also pleased to welcome international presenters from Kenya, the US, the UK and Australia this year.

All workshops and science shows are R30, and bookings are essential. Scifest Africa has gone digital this year, so all bookings should be made through the website. There will also be a physical Ticket Office at the Monument Reception for the duration of the Festival.
