Nikiwe was awarded the Hubert Humphrey’s Fellowship and has taken special leave from eTV's News Night, which she co-anchored with Jeremy Maggs. Each year, up to 15 Humphrey Fellows arrive at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University for 10 months of academic study, leadership development, professional enrichment and American cultural immersion. It is a fellowship for mid-career professionals who've shown leadership skills and is aimed at enhancing their professional development, including an element of community involvement.The program ends with a 6 week stint at a US organization of interest. Nikiwe is hoping to work at the World Bank because of her interest in economic development.
