Allan Gray, Prince Alfred and Graham House combined came 2nd overall for RU Jamming.

Our three undergrad residences did fairly well in the inter-res sports competition this year.  In the female competition, Allan Gray came 3rd, and Prince Alfred came 6th.  In the male competition, Graham House came 7th.

Mziwonke Qwesha, of Celeste House was the winner of the World Radio Day Scriptwriting Award (African continent).  14 February 2019. He was chosen as the best radio playwright in the African continent during the World Radio Day celebrations hosted by UNESCO, United Nations Educational and Scientific Committee.  He was also voted the Editor’s choice by Gamaphile for his upcoming novel: “Each Blood, The Tombs We Count”. April 2019.

 

Nande Siko, of Allan Gray House performed at the National Arts Festival in a production called SALT. SALT won the award for best Director and overall best play.

Allan Gray and Prince Alfred House combined were finalists for the 2019 RUCE (Rhodes University Community Engagement) Awards, in the Residence/Hall of the Year category.  Unfortunately we did not win, but it was a huge honour to be a finalist.

Buhle Ndebele, a former Celeste House Sub-Warden, was part of Team E-Smart that won the 2019 Hult Prize Challenge held at the Brookhouse International School in Nairobi, Kenya from 19 to 20 April 2019.
