This year Drostdy Hall continued to partner with Noncedo Pre-School. The school has children from the age of 3-5 years old, and they have 30 learners and 3 teachers. The three goals we had for this year were school readiness, painting the school walls, and teaching the teachers how to write a proposal.  All the goals were achieved.

Students from the Hall also helped with activities such as drawing, colouring, reading and many more, and also played with the children.

In the first semester we hosted a sports/fun day for the school. This was a special event for the children, and we engaged with them and the parents. We donated certificates, and food packages for the children for the sports day.

On the 24th September, Allan Gray and Prince Alfred House arranged a trip to the museum for the children of Noncedo Pre-School.  Before going to the museum, they played games in the Allan Gray House common room with members of the house.

On the 12th October we as a Hall embarked on completing our final goal for Noncedo Pre-School, which was a talent show for the children, and the painting of the school. We had approximately 40 students who volunteered.  Some of the students double booked their lunch in order to donate a packed lunch to the children and the teachers. The students and the children had loads of fun.

Celeste House fundraised money to purchase items requested by Noncedo. There were also items donated by house members.

Allan Gray, Prince Alfred & Celeste House took part in the Give 5 challenge.

Allan Gray and Prince Alfred combined were finalists for the 2019 RUCE Awards, in the Residence/Hall of the Year category.  Unfortunately we did not win, but it was a huge honour to be a finalist.
