TERM 1

First Years Academic Talk:  The Academic Rep introduced the various academic activities to the new students, explained the DP, G7, where to find help, difference between tutors and Academic Rep and stressed the importance of mental well-being.

Created Academic Groups for all 1st years: 1st years were asked about the courses they were enrolled in and multiple group chats were created for the various degrees/courses.

Mental Health Session:  The Academic Rep led the residents of PA through meditation and asked each student (1st years) how they were coping during the first few weeks of academic activity commencing. They were also provided with a list of affirmations they could read daily.

Added all Drostdy Hall 1st years into existing academic groups: The Prince Alfred Academic Rep received complaints from the 1st years that they were finding it difficult to make friends, so the Academic Rep opted to include the Academic Reps from Allan Gray House and Graham House and added all their first years to the academic WhatsApp groups so that everyone could interact with one another.

Created an environment whereby all students offered emotional support to one another, through sending handwritten notes, checking in with any house comm member they felt comfortable with.

TERM 2

Drostdy Hall Academic Talk:  In partnership with the SRC Academic Councillor, a virtual academic talk was held in preparation for June/July examinations.

Common Room/Study Room:  Both common rooms were turned into a study area in preparation for exams, and were used throughout exam season.

Weekly Motivation:  In the first weeks of the second term, the Academic Rep forwarded a few uplifting messages ensuring that all students understood that there was help if they needed it.

TERM 3

Offered support to all students who reached out and got them in touch with the appropriate departments.

Sent through infographics about mental wellbeing that were posted by the RU Wellness Leaders on the Instagram Page.

TERM 4

Certificates of Academic Excellence:  Top achievers in Prince Alfred were awarded with certificates of academic excellence for their results obtained in the first semester.

Mental Health Session:  This was to ease students into the last term and to allow students to take some time to voice out any concerns and issues they may have had academically, socially, emotionally. This was done through an arts and craft session, including meditation.

Common rooms:  Both common rooms operated as study areas for the duration the term.

Weekly Motivation:  Messages were sent by all Prince Alfred House Committee Members on a weekly basis to motivate and offer encouragement to all students and to remind them that help is always available.
